Sri Lanka Win Series Against India

Sri Lanka defeated India by 3 wickets in the third and final ODI to clinch the series 2-1 on Sunday. Chasing a target of 307, Sri Lanka rode on a brilliant century from Pathum Nissanka (152) to reach 307/7 in 49.1 overs.

India made a strong start with the bat, posting 212/2 in 32 overs thanks to half-centuries from Shubman Gill (72) and Virat Kohli (66). However, Sri Lanka's bowlers fought back to restrict India to 306/7 in their 50 overs.

In reply, Sri Lanka lost three early wickets before Nissanka and Kusal Mendis (56) steadied the innings with a 114-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Nissanka fell in the 41st over, but Mendis and Chamika Karunaratne (44) kept Sri Lanka in the chase.

India Dominate First Half of Match

India dominated the first half of the match. Gill and Kohli put on a 95-run opening stand, and Suryakumar Yadav added 40 off 31 balls to take India to 199/1 in the 30th over.

However, Sri Lanka's spinners, Maheesh Theekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga, brought the hosts back into the game. Theekshana dismissed Gill and Kohli in quick succession, while Hasaranga accounted for Yadav.

Sri Lanka Fight Back to Win Series

Sri Lanka's bowlers continued to impress in the second half of the innings. Dushmantha Chameera removed Shreyas Iyer (28) and Hardik Pandya (14) in quick succession, while Hasaranga picked up his third wicket by dismissing Axar Patel (14).

With India struggling at 259/7 in the 45th over, Sri Lanka sensed an opportunity. Nissanka and Mendis took the attack to the Indian bowlers, and Sri Lanka eventually reached their target with just nine balls to spare.

Nissanka Stars for Sri Lanka

Nissanka was the star of the show for Sri Lanka. The opener played a superb knock of 152 off 132 balls, hitting 16 fours and 5 sixes.

Nissanka's century was his second in ODIs, and it helped Sri Lanka clinch a memorable series victory over India.
