Bedford County is gearing up for the 2024 Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) Pro World Championship, marking an exciting moment for disc golf enthusiasts and the local economy. This prestigious event will showcase Bedford County’s commitment to the sport and its growing reputation as a top destination for disc golfers.

Economic Boost and Local Tourism

Recognizing the sport’s popularity and its potential for tourism, the Destination Bedford Disc Golf campaign was launched in partnership with the Bedford County Office of Economic Development. This initiative aims to position Bedford County as an epicenter for disc golf and attract visitors from across the country.

Governor Glenn Youngkin’s recent award of $1.5 million to the event will further enhance its growth and impact. This investment underscores the state’s support for disc golf and its economic significance.

Multiple Disc Golf Courses Featured

The Pro World Championship will utilize multiple disc golf courses in Bedford County and Lynchburg, including Ivy Hill Golf, Falling Creek Park in Bedford, and Moneta Park in Moneta. These courses offer a range of challenges and scenery, catering to players of all skill levels.

  • Ivy Hill Golf: a par-72 championship course, featuring rolling hills and challenging greens.
  • Falling Creek Park: an 18-hole course set amidst scenic woodlands, with both technical and open holes.
  • Moneta Park: a 9-hole course, perfect for beginners and intermediate players, with shorter holes and open fairways.
